With new recruits officially on board and a few more to be expected, Far Eastern University (FEU) Tamaraws head coach Sean Chambers aims to keep the green-and-gold bloodline alive in preparation for the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Season 89 men’s basketball tourney.
“I just want to continue on with the FEU legacy and how we tried to build from within — that culture, that legacy has been amazing for us as a University and as a team. We are constantly reminding ourselves, not only are we playing for ourselves, and our family, but [also for] the brotherhood and the University. That’s the culture we always want to maintain here… and what we’re playing for is always going to be bigger than us,” Chambers said to FEU Advocate in their post-game interview after winning against Arellano University in the National Student Athletes Championship 2026 Basketball Campus Tour last April 25.
Fresh from their University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Season 88 high school boys’ basketball championship, FEU-Diliman players Yosef Rañeses, Sam Hall, and Marc Burgos were seen taking part in the men’s basketball team’s training in an Instagram post made by Chambers.

With no official announcements yet, Rañeses played minutes in their win over Arellano, while Sam Hall was at the bench.
This was followed not long after by the official announcement of Burgos and Filipino-American guard Elias Gish’s commitment to the Tamaraws last April 14 and April 17, respectively.
For the green-and-gold lead tactician, the acquisition of these players is not just about adding firepower to their rising team, but a token of appreciation rooted in familyhood.
“It is the ultimate compliment… It’s basically letting us know from our high school guys that they like what we’re doing on the senior team. There’s a vote of confidence that we’re getting… to make sure we keep our guys at home. It’s the best feeling when you see the young guys come from the high school and they come and join us for the senior practice. You can really see the true Tamaraw family, the FEU family, and how they’ve all been together for all these many years and how they support each other,” he shared.
With offseason preparations in full swing, Chambers also hinted that they are ‘waiting for one more.’
Despite the commitment of Burgos, Season 88 Most Valuable Player Cabs Cabonilas has yet to decide whether to continue his talent in Morayta.
