Far Eastern University (FEU) student-activists doled donations in response to the transport strike spearheaded by Pinagkaisang Samahan ng mga Tsuper at Operators Nationwide (PISTON) across Metro Manila that started yesterday, November 20.

Tamaraw student-activists supported the protestors by providing free bread and coffee along Morayta where they also accepted in-kind contributions.

The mobilization by PISTON will take place until tomorrow, November 22.

Transport group Manibela also declares a three-day transport strike until Friday, November 24, marking this year’s third transport strike.

In line with the Public Utility Vehicle Modernization Program, the demonstrators protested against the approaching deadline of the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board on December 31 to consolidate jeepneys into a franchise.

PISTON, along other progressive groups, jeepney drivers, and operators also resisted another anticipated hike of the minimum fare in revamped jeepneys, importation, and urged the government for support and the right to assembly.

FEU temporarily switched its learning mode to online classes in response to the affected routes near the University-belt until today.

As per University’s announcements, the advisory for the remaining days of the transport strike is still awaited.
