Far Eastern University (FEU) Lady Tamaraws secured a Final Four spot following a win over the National University (NU) Lady Bulldogs, 21-7, while the Tamaraws suffered a setback against the Adamson University (AdU) Soaring Falcons, 18-21, in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Season 88 3x3 basketball tournament earlier today, May 1, at Ayala Malls Manila Bay in Parañaque City.

The game started with a battle for two-pointers but Amyah Espanol’s quick response decided the lead, 5-3. From there, the lead grew further with another jumper from Espanol, 12-7.

Maria Pasilang took control inside with consecutive finishes, 17-7, while Maxene De La Torre added key baskets late, including a step-back and the final shot of the game, 21-7.

Setting the pace for the Lady Tamaraws, Espanol delivered with seven points, while Pasilang and Dela Torre followed closely behind with six markers each, showing consistent contributions throughout the game.

Meanwhile, the men’s side opened with a tight back-and-forth against the Soaring Falcons, with Kirby Mongcopa and Adam Nakai keeping FEU level, 6-6.

From there, the opposing team gradually pulled away with a steady scoring run, while Nakai and Mongcopa continued to answer to keep the game within striking distance, 10-14.

Nakai kept the fight alive with key inside conversions, trimming the gap in the final stretch, 18-19. However, the green-and-gold squad struggled to close it out as the San Marcelino squad stayed firm and responded quickly to seal the game, 18-21.

Nakai set the tone for the Tamaraws with nine markers, with Mongcopa close behind at eight points, while Montemayor chipped in one to round out the scoring.

Sitting at a 5-1 win-loss record, the green-and-gold cagebelles aim to maintain their form as they face Ateneo de Manila University. Meanwhile, the Tamaraws, who hold a 2-4 slate, look to bounce back against the University of the East tomorrow at the same venue.
