Far Eastern University (FEU) Chorale member Yvonne Claire Decolongon won two rounds of GMA’s Tanghalan ng Kampeon, bringing honor to the green and gold community last April 2.

In an interview with FEU Advocate, Decolongon affirmed that her achievement exemplifies FEU students’ capabilities.

“This achievement really shows that Tamaraws are talented and excel in various aspects, whether it is academics, singing, dancing, and sports,” she said.

Decolongon shared that her journey as a contestant of Tanghalan ng Kampeon started when she auditioned for Sparkle GMA Artist Center to pursue her interest in singing.

After completing the four stages of audition, she was accepted into the competition to perform live on television.

The FEU Chorale member won the first two rounds, earning the title of “Kampeon Ngayon,” referring to the contest’s defending champion.

According to Decolongon, her preparation as a member of FEU Chorale for their competition in Bali, Indonesia last July 2023 had helped her perform well despite feeling nervous.

In the back-to-back competition last April 3, Decolongon failed to defend her title, marking the end of her Tanghalan ng Kampeon journey.

Tanghalan ng Kampeon is a segment of GMA’s weekday variety show TiktoClock, which was revived last February after its hiatus since 1993. It is a singing contest where winners of the first round advance to the second round to compete with the defending champion.
