As 2025 Spikers’ Turf Open Conference concluded yesterday, April 6, at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City, four former Far Eastern University (FEU) Tamaraws were among the eight players who claimed individual recognition.
FEU men’s volleyball assistant coach Jude Garcia of the Criss Cross King Crunchers won a historical third consecutive Most Valuable Player (MVP) award, finishing first in blocking with 0.70 per set, second in scoring with 200 points, and second in spiking with a 46.40-percent hit rate.
Following Garcia in the blocking rankings with 0.67 per set, Cignal HD Spiker JP Bugaoan achieved his fourth Best Middle Blocker award. His teammate Vince Lorenzo, who finished second in digging with 2.13 per set and third in receiving with 48.97-percent efficiency, was then named the Best Libero.
Savouge Spin Doctor Mark Calado completes the four-Tamaraw list, finishing as one of the two Best Outside Spikers after a league-high 229 total points on a 46.12-percent success rate, good for third in league spiking.
As for the rest of individual honors, Cignal’s Steven Rotter earned the Finals MVP and the Best Opposite Spiker awards, while Savouge’s Sherwin Caritativo joined Calado as the other Best Outside Spiker.
Meanwhile, Criss Cross’ Ish Polvorosa and Gian Glorioso were hailed as the Best Setter and the other Best Middle Blocker, respectively.
The HD Spikers won their third straight and ninth overall title, overcoming the King Crunchers. The Spin Doctors then completed the podium with a bronze finish over the VNS-Laticrete Griffins.
