Far Eastern University Central Student Organization (FEUCSO) continues its call, urging the Administration to shift learning modalities in light of the series of extreme heat indices in Metro Manila.
In a statement released yesteray, April 25, FEUCSO emphasized that the collective call of Tamaraws should prompt action from the University.
They also used #AngInitPiyu as part of their call.
“The FEU CSO is in solidarity with every Tamaraw feeling the weight of this heat. We will continue to hold the line until concrete action is taken,” FEUCSO stated.
FEUCSO first submitted a request to the Administration last April 15 for temporary academic adjustment from April 14 to 16, which also coincided with the Holy Week.
However, the request did not receive any updates.
The organization then submitted another recommendation letter to the Office of the Student Discipline (OSD) last April 23 for weather-appropriate attire. According to FEUCSO, OSD has received the proposal and is already under review.
The letter seeks students to wear shorts, sleeveless tops, and summer dresses.
Moreover, the organization encourages students to prioritize health and stay hydrated amid the heat index.
FEUCSO also suggests initiating conversations with instructors for possible class adjustments.
PAGASA recorded around 40 to 42 degrees Celsius heat indices in Quezon City and City since Sunday. It is forecast to reach 40 and 41 degrees Celsius today, respectively.
Heat indices at 33 to 41 degrees Celsius are categorized under ‘Extreme Caution’ while those from 42 to 51 degrees Celsius are classified ‘Dangerous.’
At around the same time last year, FEU conducted blended modality classes in light of the forecast high heat until the end of the school year while keeping some on-campus services available.
