FEU Dance Company (FDC) celebrated their 60th anniversary with “Sisenta”, a one-night dance concert that relived the dance group’s legacy and journey throughout the years, February 27 at the FEU Auditorium.

Following its success, artistic director Eduardo Malagkit considers the concert as a miraculous accident despite last-minute changes regarding the concept and theme.

Aksidente kasi ito (This was an accident). It’s not really Sisenta. I’m really preparing for something else, but we have to celebrate the 60th anniversary of FDC. That’s why I had to change [the concept]. So sabi ko (I said), Lord, I’m not prepared for this but, as we go through day-by-day, God is revealing to me what I should do. Then, everything falls into its place. It’s magic. It’s a miracle,” he shared.

Through the direction of Malagkit, FDC wowed the crowd with diverse performances starting with folk and ballet up to modern and street dance. Along with them, are special guests Team Vibe and Autonomicass Crew.

FDC performed their award-winning pieces from the past decades including their Pintados act which earned bronze prize in South Korea. They also performed an excerpt of Moriones routine, Malagkit's first dance competition piece for FEU.

Sisenta paid tribute to the former members, alumni, and previous artistic directors who helped shape FEU’s official dance group’s legacy.

Started as a folk dance group in the year 1957, FDC made its way into the local and international dance scene tackling every dance genre with passion and excellence.
