After settling a bridesmaid finish in last year’s edition of the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Collegiate Conference, a hungrier Far Eastern University (FEU) Lady Tamaraws are expected to eye for its off season redemption against 12 teams.

But following their campaign in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) season 81 women’s volleyball tournament, FEU now undergoes a transition in order to fill something that is needed by the Morayta-based squad after losing its key players.

As per FEU head coach George Pascua’s statement, “Naroon pa lang kami sa stage na ano, transition kasi kami ngayon, ‘yung experimental pa lang kung sino ang mag-fifit sa position (We're still in the transition stage; we're still experimenting on who will fit for the position).”

With the likes of Jerrili Malabanan, Kyle Negrito, and Heather Guino-o exhausting their years of service for FEU, Pascua said that experience will become one of the challenges that will test the troop.

‘Yung challenges, karamihan kasi mga bago na, so lack of experience. Skills-wise, hindi pa naman ganoon kataas ang skills level nila kasi ‘yung iba riyan months pa lang kami nag-eensayo (About the challenges, majority [of the members] are new, so lack of experience. Skills-wise, their level is not that much high because some of them have only started training with the team for months),” told Pascua.

With everyone in the troop showing hunger in learning, Pascua sees this as a good indication and considers as an advantage upon filling their gap.

’Yung willingness ng mga bata na maturuan ng character. ‘Yun ang isa sa mga advantage natin (The girls’ eagerness to be taught of character, that’s one of our advantages),” Pascua said.

Grouped under Pool B, Lady Tams will begin their first action against De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde (DLS-CSB) on Saturday, August 17, at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
