FEU marks 97th anniversary with set of activities

Far Eastern University (FEU) commemorates its 97th Founding Anniversary with a series of activities celebrating the milestone from February 10 to 28.

FEU’s 97th anniversary theme, 'Braving Excellence,' rooted in the University’s “Be Brave” mantra, follows the five-year journey towards the University's centennial celebration. 

February 10

The 97th Founding Anniversary celebration will open with a Thanksgiving Mass at the FEU Chapel at 7:30 a.m.

It will be followed by the Wreath Laying Ceremony by the Dr. Nicanor Reyes Sr. memorial statue at the Founder’s Marker, which will mark the official start of the celebration starting at 9 a.m.

The Institute of Architecture and Fine Arts (IARFA) exhibit, entitled ‘Arts Collective: Celebrating a Year of Creative Partnerships’ located at the Nicanor Reyes Hall, will open on the same day and run until February 15. 

In collaboration with Small Enterprises Research and Development Foundation (SERDEF), FEU will hold a two-day discussion entitled ‘FEU x SERDEF: Empowering Changemakers Through New Ventures and Social Entrepreneurship with AI’ at the Institute of Accounts, Business, and Finance (IABF) Case Study Room from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. 

As part of FEU Center for the Art’s (FCA) ‘Palabas sa Piyu,’ a performance by the FEU Drum and Bugle Corps is set at the FEU Grandstand from 10:30 to 10:45 a.m., followed by a performance by the FEU Bamboo Band at the FEU Plaza from 12 to 12:15 p.m. 

‘TAMs Assemble: A celebration of FEU's path to excellence, diversity, and inclusion’ will also transpire along the FEU Plaza, Science Building (SB) Walkway, Pavillion 1, and Gazebos, which will be held until February 12.

Afterwards, a lecture entitled ‘The Inter-disciplinary Nature of Heritage Studies in Action’ will be held at the Admission Building Interactive Room from 3 to 5 p.m.

February 11

FEU Dance Company (FDC) will kick off the second day with a performance as part of Palabas sa Piyu at the Admin Lawn at 7:30 a.m. 

Meanwhile, a discussion entitled ‘Braving Academic Excellence in Health Sciences Together’ will take place from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the University Conference Center (UCC). 

Along with the series of performances from Palabas sa Piyu, FEU Chorale’s performance is set at 12 p.m. at Pavilion 1.

Engaging students in physical activities, the Larong Pinoy event entitled ‘Tamaraw Tagisan: Lakad, Takbo, Talon,’ organized by the Wellness and Recreation Program (WRP) Department, will be held oat the University Grounds from 2 to 4:30 p.m., followed by the K-pop Dance Showdown at 4:30 until 6 p.m.  

Additionally, ‘Braving Excellence: The Stories that Shape Our Legacy’ will commence at the FEUture Center (FC) Auditorium from 2 to 4 p.m.

February 12

On the third day, the FEU Drummers will perform at the FEU Grandstand as part of FCA’s Palabas sa Piyu set at 7:30 a.m. 

The ‘7th Alejandro Roces Professional Lecture’ will be conducted at the UCC, which will be divided into two sessions: the Science Lecture, hosted by the FEU Department of Psychology, is set for 9 a.m., while the FEU Department of Communications will conduct the Art Lecture at 1:30 p.m.

FEU Theater Guild’s (FTG) performance, also part of the Palabas sa Piyu, will be at Pavilion 1 set at 12 p.m. Later that day, FTG's ‘Niyebe, Isang Musikal,’ an experimental musical, is scheduled to run from February 12, 13, 19 to 22, 26 to 28, and March 1, 5 to 8, 12 to 15, 19 to 22, 26, and 27 at the FCA Studio every 6 p.m. 

A discussion entitled ‘Teacher, Teacher, How toxic or emphatic are you?’ will be held at the IABF Case Study Room from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. 

February 13

On Thursday, the ‘IABF ASPIRE 7.0 Lecture Series’ is set at the FEU Auditorium from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m.

The ‘2025 Communication Research Student Colloquium’ by the FEU Department of Communication finalists will occur at the Arts Building Theater from 1 to 5 p.m. 

February 14

The ‘Foundation Week 2025: SAYAWIT’ competition, joined by different institutes, will be held from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the FEU Grandstand. Winners of the SAYAWIT competition will also perform at One Concierto Piyu (OCP). 

With special invited guests and artists, the annual University concert, ‘One Concierto Piyu,’ will be held to commemorate the celebration at 3 to 6 p.m. 

Additionally, the crowned Drag Battle Superstar at the ‘Drag Battle 2025: FEU Drag Excellence,' organized by the FEU Central Student Organization (FEUCSO) will have the chance to have an exclusive drag performance at the OCP. 

February 18

The ‘Ambassador Lecture from H.E. Marie Fontanel, Ambassador of France to the Philippines and Micronesia’ is set at the FC Auditorium from 1 to 3 p.m.

February 19

‘Kwentong Kainan: A Story of Braving Excellence in Culinary Heritage and Heirloom Dishes’ will commence at the FEU Auditorium from 1 to 4 p.m. 

February 20

A lecture entitled ‘Empowering Generations: Braving Excellence Together for Sustainable Business Success and Culinary Heritage’ will be held at the FC Auditorium at 1:30 until 6 p.m.

February 22

‘FCA's FEUlikahan and Kwentuhan Series featuring Tosca, by Giacomo Puccini’ will start from 1:30 to 5:30 p.m at the FC Auditorium. 

February 28

Closing the festivities is ‘TamVows: A Road to Forevermore,’ the mass wedding’s decennial year, set at the Mini Auditorium from 4 to 8 p.m. This year’s venue will be changed from the traditional celebration held in front of the FEU Chapel.
