Far Eastern University (FEU) Lady Tamaraw Alyzza Devosora’s 14-point performance was not enough to falter the momentum of the University of Santo Tomas (UST) Golden Tigresses, 16-25, 26-28, 21-25, in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Season 85 women’s volleyball tourney held earlier today, March 1 at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
Devosora led the losing team with her 11 attacks and 3 block-point output in the game.
Two other Lady Tamaraws contributed in the scoring department with Jovelyn Fernandez’s 13 points and Mitzi Panangin with nine.
In an interview with FEU Advocate, Devosora shared that they lacked strategy and communication during the extended second set.
“Siguro sa diskarte nalang po, kasi sa diskarte, doon kami nakakakuha ng point eh. And also ‘yung communication po, kulang pa po kami [sa communication] (I think we lacked in strategy because we get most of our points from our strategy. And also in communication, we lacked [in communication]),” she said.
The Morayta-based squad almost clinched the extended second set but did not manage to put a defensive stop on the powerful attacks of UST, 26-28.
In the same interview, Head Coach Tina Salak talked about how they will prepare to bounce back in their upcoming game by allowing the girls to recover and rest.
“Moving forward, kailangan namin bumawi, so kailangan namin mag-recover (Moving forward, we have to bounce back, so we need to recover),” she stated.
The green-and-gold volleybelles are now at a 1-1 win-loss record and will try to go back on the winning column against the Adamson University Lady Falcons on March 4 at the same venue.
