Far Eastern University (FEU) Tamaraw Booter Chester Gio Pabualan had another caliber performance after scoring two goals to keep the University of the East (UE) Red Warriors scoreless, 8-0, in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Season 85 men’s football tourney held at the University of the Philippines Diliman in Quezon City last April 16.
Pabualan scored his two goals during the 55-minute and 59-minute mark that led FEU to extend their momentum in the second half of the match.
The Tamaraw striker also added three assists in his output after providing for the goals of RJ Pescadera in the 14th minute, Mel Baylon in the 33rd minute, and Viejay Frigillano in the 45+2-minute mark.
In a post-game interview with FEU Advocate, the senior mentioned that the team needed a comeback after losing their last two games in the eliminations against Ateneo de Manila University Blue Eagles.
“We need a comeback kasi po galing po kami [sa] talo (because we came from defeat), and to stay at the top, we need every single game to win,” he stated.
Three other Tamaraws chipped in the scoresheet for the Morayta-based team during the second half with shots Martini Rey in the 54th minute, Stephen Soria during the 57-minute mark, and Karl Absalon capped off the scoring in the 72nd minute on a goal outside the box.
FEU also dominated the defensive end after putting pressure on the offense of UE, ending the game at 8-nil.
Green-and-gold Team Captain Frigillano expressed that the team was motivated with the lapses that they had in their previous game.
“Sa game ngayon (In our game now) against UE, we work as a team, ginamit namin ‘yung mga lapses namin sa past game namin at in-improve namin kaya naka-convert kami ng maraming (we used our lapses in our past game and we improved on it which is why we managed to convert many) attempts and goals,” Frigillano stated in an interview with FEU Advocate.
The Santos-led squad is currently at third seed with a 4-3-2 win-draw-loss card and will attempt to add another win in the column against the De La Salle University Green Booters on April 23 at the same venue.
