Far Eastern University Cheering Squad (FEUCS) bagged the silver trophy which marked their fourth straight podium finish in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Season 85 cheerdance competition held at the Mall of Asia Arena, Pasay City last December 10.
The green-and-gold reps took the stage with a performance dedicated to the late Filipino King of Rap Francis Magalona, executing different stunts and formations bannering the theme #EveryColorFEU.
FEU garnered a total of 719 points, just four markers shy from the new champions National University (NU) Pep Squad who had 723 points and 79 points away from bronze medalists University of Santo Tomas Salinggawi Dance Troupe with 640 markers.
With the high level of difficulty in their routine, FEUCS topped the tumbling category with 88.5 points and the tosses category with 90.5 points, while they came in second place in the stunts category with 88 markers, pyramids with 92 points and dance with 366 markers.
Failing to clinch back-to-back crowns this year, Head Coach Randell San Gregorio still expressed that it was a good stint for the team after having a narrow gap with NU.
“Okay pa rin kasi at least ano na we can go toe-to-toe with them… At least ngayon, we can, parang kaya na namin sumabay sa kanila (It's still okay because at least we can go toe-to-toe with them... At least now, we can, it seems like we can compete with them),” he stated during the post-competition interview.
The Morayta-based squad currently holds three cheerdance championship titles at hand.
