Far Eastern University (FEU) Lady Tamaraw Faida Bakake mentioned that her teammates’ support was a huge help as she was named the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Player of the Week after two huge wins to secure their Final Four spot.

My team helped me to perform well, they never let me [feel deserted] when I struggle. Their trust [in] me gave me confidence,” she said in an interview with FEU Advocate.

After struggling in the first round of eliminations, Bakanke peaked at the right time to lead the scoring load for the Lady Tamaraws.

The Congolese rookie tallied 13 points from 11 attacks and two blocks in a win against the Adamson Lady Falcons.

In their hard-earned five-setter win against the University of Santo Tomas Lady Tigresses, Bakanke led the offense of the team once more with a career-high of 21 markers from 15 attacks, four blocks, and two aces.

As of writing, Bakanke ranks sixth in spiking, seventh in blocking and 13th in scoring.

The green-and-gold volleybelle also said that she feels delighted to be named as the UAAP Player of the Week.

“Being chosen as the Player of the Week in UAAP makes me feel really good. It shows that I really did great job and I have my team to win” she added.

The green-and-gold squad will aim for a chance to gain a twice-to-beat advantage in the Final Four as the elimination round concludes this Wednesday, April 24 against National University (NU).
