The newly-renovated Arts Building (AB) is set to be launched with additional multipurpose rooms, an improved gym, and a mini auditorium by the end of May.

In an online interview with FEU Advocate, Vice President for Facilities and Technical Services (FTS) Engr. Edward Kilakiga shared that the improved AB will include new multipurpose facilities designed to be more suitable for their purposes.

“The renovated Arts Building will feature multipurpose and Wellness Recreation Program (WRP) rooms with allocated shower and locker rooms, a climbing wall, and an enhanced mini auditorium and gym, among others. Split-type ACs will be converted to a chilled water system,” he stated.

Engr. Kilakiga went on to share that although the planning went smoothly, the occurrence of the pandemic has caused some delays in the construction of the building.

“The progress of the work has been affected by delay in the delivery of the glass needed for wall covering, doors, and windows due to pandemic restrictions,” he added.

In a follow-up interview, he also shared that the AB is technically complete, with an event already held in the University Conference Center (UCC) and the gym is also being utilized for dance practices.

“The building itself is considered complete and the major equipment has been tested and found to be functional. We are just waiting for the delivery of the remaining window glass for the classrooms,” the FTS Vice President said.

The renovation of the building started last May 2022 with the goal of enhancing the building’s amenities and learning conditions through large-capacity function rooms, gender-neutral bathrooms, and an improved gym.

Besides the recent developments, Engr. Kilakiga said that the University eyes renovating the study and lounge areas in the Alfredo Reyes Hall (ARH), which is scheduled after the AB renovations are completed.
