As they enter their final game in the women's volleyball tourney, the Far Eastern University (FEU) Lady Tamaraws’ chances at a semifinals ticket remain slim. Find out the possible scenarios that will determine the green-and-gold team’s fate this University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Season 88.
With the De La Salle University Lady Spikers, National University (NU) Lady Bulldogs, and Adamson University Lady Falcons taking the top three slots, FEU shifts its focus to clinching the four-seed in their last and arguably most important game tomorrow, April 22, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.
Their odds, however, hang by merely a thread — and quite frankly, a probability.
The Lady Tamaraws must first defeat the Ateneo de Manila University Blue Eagles to move to an 8-6 win-loss record. If they fall short, they drop to 7-7 and are eliminated.
Winning the said game, however, will still not guarantee a Final Four berth.
The Morayta-based volleybelles must now hope that the University of Santo Tomas (UST) Golden Tigresses, who hold an 8-5 win-loss card and will also play their last game tomorrow, lose against NU. If so, FEU and UST will tie at 8-6 for a possible do-or-die playoff game.
If the Golden Tigresses succeed, the green-and-gold squad will automatically miss their shot at the fourth spot, regardless if they emerge victorious over the Blue Eagles.
