Far Eastern University (FEU) Lady Tamaraws sat at the bottom of the barrel as they lost against the University of the East (UE) Lady Warriors, 12-13, in their final game of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Season 86 3x3 women’s basketball tournament earlier today, May 5, at the Ayala Malls Manila Bay in Parañaque City.
The Lady Tamaraws started their last match granting the UE Lady Warriors a foul-shot, but Rea Fe Ong instantly tied the match also from a free throw shot, 1-1.
While FEU struggled to gain ball possession, UE’s Katherine Ruiz took advantage of their consistent offensive rebounds to light up the scoreboard.
Lady Tamaraw Shane Salvani led the team to catch up with the lead of the Recto-based squad, but their late run was not enough to steal the match, 12-13.
In an interview with FEU Advocate, Salvani mentioned that they performed what the coaches wanted to see from them throughout the season.
“Effort namin medyo kulang pa, pero binigay naman namin ‘yung best namin to communicate na habulin ‘yun... Bilang first game namin sa 3x3, we prepared that [in] one month, binigay naman namin ‘yung best effort na gustong makita ng coaches (Our effort is still a little lacking, but we gave our best to communicate to chase it... As our first game in 3x3, we prepared that [in] one month, we gave our best effort that the coaches want to see),” she said.
The Morayta-based squad missed to enter the final four with a 1-6 win-loss record.
