Far Eastern University (FEU) Lady Tamaraws suffered two losses to the De La Salle University (DLSU) Lady Archers and the National University (NU) Lady Bulldogs with scores of 16-18 and 12-18 in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Season 86 women’s 3x3 basketball tournament today, May 3 at Ayala Malls Manila Bay in Parañaque City.

The Morayta-based squad trailed early in their first game against the Taft squad due to the early production of DLSU in the paint.

FEU’s field goal percentage hampered their chances at a comeback as their 9/26 from the field caused them to trail by as much as five.

Despite Shane Salvani’s seven points and Maxene Dela Torre’s four, FEU fell against DLSU, 16-18.

In a post-game interview with FEU Advocate, Salvani ensured that the team left it all out on the floor despite the loss.

“That was a good game. Binigay din namin 'yung [lahat]. ‘Yung effort, ‘yung best, ‘yung communication namin sa isa’t isa, [sa] defense and offense (That was good game. We gave it our all. Our effort, our best, and our communication with each other on defens and offense),” she said.

In the second game, Salvani continued her basket-making, scoring the first five of the Lady Tams’ points.

Unfortunately, the rest of the green-and-gold squad struggled to score as FEU shot a combined 6/29 the entire game.

With the help of consistent post play by NU’s Tin Cayabyab, FEU fell against the Lady Bulldog, 16-18

Salvani scored 10 points on three from beyond the arc, followed by Dela Torre who chipped in two markers.

The Morayta cager added that for the team to capitalize on their next games, they need to go back to the drawing board and tweak their play:

“Gameplan namin, kailangan namin marealize ‘yung mga mali, kailangan pa namin mag-communicate on the court (Our gameplan is that we need to realize our mistakes and we need to communicate more on the court),” she added.

FEU sank to a 1-3 win-loss record and will face University of Santo Tomas (UST) and Adamson University (AdU) tomorrow, May 4 at the same venue.
