With at least one candidate coming from all three accredited political slates, Far Eastern University (FEU) Institute of Health Sciences and Nursing (IHSN) elected its new batch of student-leaders.
Three accredited political parties of IHSN, Isanliyab Servant Leaders Union (ISLU), Kadiwa Student Coalition (KSC), and Tanglawtala, fought for the SC and Academic Organizations seats within the institute.
John Rich Yalung from ISLU was elected as the president of IHSN Student Council (SC) who gained a total of 747 votes over outgoing IHSN SC Vice President Ullysis Alburo from KSC and Outgoing Nursing Society President Davonn Ashley Asuncion of Tanglawtala.
Yalung also ran under ISLU last year as treasurer and won.
ISLU Vice President Coline Vergara was elected by 626 students over John Rendew Almeñana of KSC and Tanglawtala’s Arabella Rain Mallari.
Meanwhile, 842 students chose Amber Louisse Palanca of ISLU as next IHSN SC secretary over Alexa Faye Tejares from KSC.
Furthermore, Chloe Yvanna Gagan of KSC voted by 920 students won as the institute’s treasurer, defeating John Reimund Maza of ISLU and Shekinah Magsino from Tanglawtala.
Gagan is the current IHSN Auditor who first bidded for the secretary post last year but lost due to a failure of elections.
Additionally, Maritoni Dela Cruz of Tanglawtala who earned 625 votes is set to fill the auditor seat of the Institute after winning against Angelito Acasio from ISLU and Juan Miguel Peralta of KSC.
Allysa Cheska Tobias of ISLU is set to be the IHSN Press Relations Officer next term after gathering 985 votes overcoming Don King Fernando of KSC.
This is Tanglawtala’s first year to expand its political reach to IHSN, coming from a full-slated win in the FEU Nursing Society (NurSoc) last year.
In its second consecutive year, Tanglawtala secured another full-slated NurSoc after running unopposed.
They are led by President-elect Erik Emmanuel Pamplona with 995 votes, Vice President Ricky Maru Sabordino with 959 votes, Secretary Angel Claire Orense with 789 votes, Treasurer Chareena Miranda with 793 votes, Auditor Marielle Erika De Guzman with 783 votes, and P.R.O. Ryllee Junel Lacson with 815 votes.
Similarly, all of ISLU’s five unopposed FEU Medical Technology Society candidates won their respective seats.
April Fralyn Agad won as president with 535 votes, Chriselle Marie Opeña as vice president with 502 votes, Trisha Mae Madaya as treasurer with 448 votes, Alyssa Rose Balba with 427 votes, and JC John Philip Sadang as P.R.O. with 449 votes. The auditor post remains vacant.
According to the Office of the University Registrar, there are currently 4,404 students enrolled in the Nursing Department, the largest departmental population in FEU Manila. Meanwhile, there are 1,972 students in the Medical Technology Department.
