Cignal HD Spiker and former Far Eastern University (FEU) Lady Tamaraw Gel Cayuna snatched another best setter award in the recently concluded Premier Volleyball League (PVL) All-Filipino Conference 2023 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City, last December 16.

The five-foot-six playmaker is now one of the most lethal setters in PVL with three best setter awards after graduating with none.

Cayuna ranked fourth in the setting department, tallying an average of 4.44 excellent sets per set, right on the tail of playing 11 games in the elimination round.

Deanna Wong of Choco Mucho Flying Titans, Cayuna’s fellow Lady Tamaraw setter Kyle Negrito of Creamline Cool Smashers, and Louie Romero of Farm Fresh Foxies were the top three in the setting rankings.

But Cayuna’s offense and defense plays helped her to surpass the three leading setters, averaging 0.63 in attacks, 0.27 in blocks, 0.37 in aces, and 1.05 in digs.

The former green-and-gold volleybelle led the charge of HD Spikers’ offense, alongside former Lady Tamaraw setter Gyzelle Sy.

HD Spiker team captain Frances Molina and Open Spiker Vanie Gandler were able to capitalize the excellent playmaking of their setters which resulted with them entering the top 10 best scorers of the league.

Cayuna and the Cignal HD Spikers finished as bronze medalists, together with fellow FEU alums Toni Rose Basas, Geneveve Casugod, and Jerrili Malabanan.
