Far Eastern University (FEU) will start the second semester of S.Y. 2024-2025 on January 14 instead of the 13th, following FEU Central Student Organization’s (FEUCSO) recommendation letter, announced today, January 9.
In the letter sent yesterday, FEUCSO suggested conducting online classes and cited the Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC) peace rally at Liwasang Bonifacio as a possible cause of severe traffic congestion and transportation delays.
“Given the anticipated high volume of attendees and possible road closures in key areas surrounding the rally, commuting students, faculty, and staff may experience significant delays and safety concerns,” the letter read.
Instead of conducting online modality, the University decided to move the opening of classes instead.
FEUCSO also claimed that implementing online classes on the same day would alleviate pressure on students, particularly those who adhere to strict attendance policies.
The INC rally is in support of President Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr.’s opposition to impeach Vice President Sara Duterte, who is currently facing three impeachment cases, mainly due to ‘betrayal of public trust.’
