Far Eastern University (FEU) Lady Tamaraws will close the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Season 85 women’s volleyball tourney at fifth seed after a four-set defeat against the University of Santo Tomas (UST) Golden Tigresses, 24-26, 25-22, 16-25, 23-25, held at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City earlier today, April 23.
The green-and-gold volleybelles took an early momentum in the first frame, but failed to secure the set as the Tigresses delivered on their high caliber offense, 24-26.
FEU managed to force UST in creating 10 errors that led to a more dominant second set for the Lady Tams on both ends of the court, 25-22.
The Morayta volleybelles could not get hold of their second set drive to put another win on their column in the second round of eliminations against UST.
During the post-game conference, FEU Head Coach Tina Salak emphasized on closing the season on a good standing, including the close loss to UST.
“Against UST, very flattering ‘yung game. Kahit ako, hindi ko in-eexpect na magiging ganu’n ‘yung outcome. We’re making sure lang na matapos ‘yung season namin na maayos (Against UST, the game is very flattering. Even I, I did not expect that the outcome will be like that. We’re just making sure to end our season good),” she said.
The Lady Tamaraws now hold a 6-7 win-loss card which was a huge leap from last season’s 1-13 win-loss record, putting them at the bottom of the barrel last UAAP season 84.
FEU will next face the fourth-seeded Adamson University Soaring Falcons on April 30 at the Filoil EcoOil Centre in San Juan City.
