Far Eastern University (FEU) Tamaraw Booters activated their offensive strut in a dominant win against Adamson University (AdU) Soaring Falcons, 6-0, as they uncapped round two of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Season 87 men's football tourney earlier today, November 3, at the University of the Philippines Diliman Football Pitch in Quezon City.
The Morayta footballers made an early mark on the offensive end after scoring two goals in the first few minutes of the game.
Tamaraw Ace Amita showed impressive pacing after he outran the Falcons, scoring at the 10th minute while driving the ball from one end of the pitch to the other.
It was not long until Marc Celis effortlessly scrambled Adamson’s defense in the box, converting a crafty goal by the 13th minute.
FEU continuously intervened AdU’s attempts at a goal as the San Marcelino-based team struggled to find an opening by the end of the first half, 2-0.
Now with steady momentum, the Tamaraws took charge of the second half as they shot through the Falcons yet again at the 51st minute, courtesy of Eugene Arriola.
Pressure quickly built on Adamson with Selwyn Mamon’s header at the 63-minute mark, sealing their fourth goal.
FEU’s offensive run remained heated as Karl Absalon added to their four-point tally in the 73rd minute.
Attempting to keep the Tams from scoring any further, the San Marcelino booters’ defensive efforts proved no good as Mamon eventually concluded the game with a last minute goal, 6-0.
In a post-game interview with FEU Advocate, Tam Booters head coach Roman Oliver expressed his sentiments on the team’s exemplary performance and drive to win.
“I think the key is the heart and pride they are playing with… We always want more. I’m very proud about my team, they never have enough. I think that mentality is very important to be ready for the next matches and to keep improving,” he shared.
With a solid foundation for the second round, Coach Oliver also emphasized the importance of wariness in the upcoming games.
“Next game on Thursday against University of the East (UE), we start 0-0… Every match is different. We will analyze how to play against them; do our best as always,” the head tactician stated.
Now at a 4-1-2 win-draw-loss record, the Tamaraw Booters seek to extend their offensive stint as they face the UE Red Warriors on Thursday, November 7, at the same venue.
