Advo gains 5 recognitions at 2020 Campus Press Awards

The FEU Advocate bagged five collegiate level recognitions at the fourth Campus Press Awards held virtually earlier today, January 29.

Advo bagged the Best Feature Story in Filipino for its “Nakahanda na ang Piging: Paglasap sa Tamis at Pait ng Marcos Day” article published September 23, 2020 about the controversial Marcos Holiday Bill. The University of San Agustin (USA) won the award in English category. 

Patnugot ng Filipino Mary Evangeline Valenton’s “Ikaw, at ang kapwa mo mangingibig” was awarded as first runner up for Best Column Story in Filipino. Joselle Czarina Dela Cruz from University of Santo Tomas (UST) received the title.

In addition, Sports Editor Joaquin Luis Quesada won second runner up for Best Sports Story in English with article “PBA Bubble: Set of obstacles, adjustments for former FEU Tamaraws.” University of Rizal System Antipolo Campus clinched the title.

Advo’s editorial cartoon for ABS-CBN franchise denial published July 12, 2020 won second runner up for Best Editorial Cartoon. The first runner up was awarded to UST, while Polytechnic University of the Philippines bagged the title.

The publication placed second runner up in the Best News Website category, while UST’s The Varsitarian and The USA Publication received the first runner up and the title, respectively.

Campus Press Awards, organized by The Manila Times and The Manila Times College, is an annual ceremony which aims to recognize the works from various student journalists in high school and tertiary level. 

Its fourth edition gathered a total of 404 entries from 42 different schools nationwide.
