My God is an Activist

Yes, my God is an activist.
He does not raise fists in violence,
nor chain people with forced belief.
Instead, His heart beats for the poor.
He cries out for justice.

Yes, my God is an activist.
He wants me to speak against oppression,
and He smiles when I refuse to be silent.
He lifts my voice to rise with the people,
And calls me to walk the path of sacrifice.

I believe my God is an activist.
He does not strike evil with thunder,
but bends low to hear their stories,
He is not vengeful, nor does He wound.
Instead, He listens to the cry of people.

So when you ask me again who my God is,
I will tell you, my God is an activist.
