It started with a breeze one night before,
Your presence loomed like forbidden lore.
You held a mirror to the dreams I once lost,
Gave them back to me, no matter the cost.
You taught me that goodness isn’t gilded with gold,
That bravery is standing firm when the world turns cold.
Now the curtain falls, and the stage turns bare,
You will finally walk through doors I am yet to dare.
How do you say goodbye to a heart so true?
To a soul that carved a better version of you?
Now, though you’re far, your lessons linger still,
Teaching me to write, to dream, and to have will.
Though paths diverge, as they somehow would;
Because I knew you, I have been changed for good.
