Far Eastern University (FEU) will be under the 13th assessment of the ASEAN University Network-Quality Assurance (AUN-QA), marking its start at the FEU Main Auditorium yesterday, November 25 until 29.

In her speech, AUN-QA Chief Assessor Ornsiri Cheunsuang expressed the significance of such assessments.

“This is not merely about identifying the strength or addressing area for improvement, but about taking up [a] holistic approach to discover the best pathway to elevate the quality and impact of FEU to achieve your mission and your goal,” she said.

This year, AUN-QA will follow the AUN-QA Quality Assessment at Institutional Level Version 3.0, the latest refinement to their institutional assessment processes.

The new guide will consist of the management and functional quality assurances (QA).

“The management QA addresses the foundation of university management, covering areas such as government, leadership, planning, human resources, finance, and external relations. The functional QA addresses the quality for education, research, and academic services,” the chief assessor added.

Cheunsuang also emphasized the strategic and systematic quality assurance in processing information management and continuous quality enhancement.

Additionally, FEU President Juan Miguel Montinola also rounded up excerpts from his speech during the 2024 Annual Stockholders Meeting, featuring the achievements and eyed improvements of the University over the past year.

For the whole week, the University will undergo a series of activities including desktop assessments, mainly of the self-assessment report, site assessments, interviews with personnel, students, and alumni.

Last month, both the Tourism Management and Hotel and Restaurant Management programs under the Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management have been granted certification by AUN-QA, tallying 18 accredited programs in FEU.

The Philippines currently fields 61 assessors and 54 university members to the network.
