Far Eastern University (FEU) Lady Tamaraws suffered defeat against unbeaten De La Salle University (DLSU) Lady Spikers, 16-25, 18-25, 21-25, in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Season 85 women's volleyball tournament earlier today, March 11, at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City.
The green-and-gold volleybelles were unable to spark their momentum all throughout the game with the green-and-white's powerful execution on both offense and defense.
Tamaraw leading scorer Chenie Tagaod chipped in 10 points from seven attacks, two service aces, and one block, while rookie standout Alyzza Devosora produced nine markers from eight attacks and a block.
In a post-game interview with FEU Advocate, Tagaod shared that they were almost capable of winning over La Salle despite their shortcomings.
“Kaya naman [ng team], talagang kulang lang talaga, ‘yun po ‘yung sinabi sa amin na kaya namin, kaya pagtatrabahuhan po namin para mabalikan namin sila sa second round ([The team] is capable, it's just that we came in short, that's what they told us so we will work on it to come back at them on the second round),” she said.
The sophomore spiker added that they plan on winning their next game against their east neighbors.
“Naka-focus po kami doon na kailangan naming manalo [against UE], preparation na rin po namin for NU (We focus on winning [against UE], that will serve as our preparation against NU),” Tagaod stated.
The Tina Salak-led squad is now at a 2-3 win-loss record and will try to clinch a win against the University of the East Red Warriors on Wednesday, March 15 at the Filoil EcoOil Centre in San Juan City.
