FEU leads UST scoreless in first-round meet

Far Eastern University (FEU) Lady Booters compelled to keep the University of Santo Tomas (UST) Lady Booters scoreless, 3-0, in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Season 85 women’s football tourney held yesterday, March 11, at the University of the Philippines (UP) Diliman Football Field in Quezon City.

The green-and-gold squad had early momentum in the first half after Regine Rebosura made a strike in the 20th minute.

Entering the second half, FEU’s Carmela Altiche took a goal during the 64-minute mark accompanied by strong defensive execution by the Morayta-based team.

Lady Tamaraw Lylhanie Joy Cayabyab secured the win with an overtime goal in the 90+5 minute.

During the post-game interview, FEU Head Coach Let Dimzon highlighted the discipline shown by the team, especially in taking control offensively.

“We are attacking on the weak side ng (of the) opponent, and then we redirected the ball sa kabilang (to the other) side, which is nag-work siya. ‘Yung effort ng bawat player, ‘yan ang pinakaimportante. ‘Yung disiplina was there (it worked. The effort of each player, that is the most important, The discipline was there),” Dimzon said.

FEU now sports a 2-0-0 win-draw-loss card and will attempt to clinch their third straight win of the season against the UP Fighting Maroons next Saturday, March 18 at the same venue.
