Far Eastern University (FEU) Lady Booters bagged their third straight win after asserting dominance against the University of the Philippines (UP) Lady Maroons, 1-0, in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Season 85 women’s football tournament held at the UP Diliman Football Field in Quezon City last March 18.
The green-and-gold lady booters had an early momentum after executing on both the offensive and defensive ends of the turf.
In the 37-minute mark, Morayta-based striker Carmela Altiche scored a goal for the team to break the deadlock against the Lady Maroons.
FEU downed their game plays in the second half, but goalie Khryss Dacanay managed to block three of UP’s attempts to tie the game.
During the post-game interview, FEU Head Coach Let Dimzon commended the team on establishing a good start in their third match of the season.
“It was a great start during the first half… We had a lot of plays from the side. We had a lot of chances also. Na-dominate namin ‘yung buong first half (We dominated the whole first half),” Dimzon said.
Dimzon also praised Dacanay on her good defense to control the Katipunan-based squad’s domination on the latter part of their first round meet.
“Good show up from Dacanay… Very dangerous in the last 10 minutes pero (but) she was able to be strong mentally. Nagawa niyang i-kontrol ‘yung attack and then nagawa niya i-save lahat ng plays (She managed to control the attack and then she also managed to save all of the plays),” she stated.
FEU now sports a 3-0-0 win-draw-loss card on top of the standings and will face the De La Salle University Lady Booters next Saturday, March 25 at the same venue.
