8 Couples tie the knot at FEU Plaza

Far Eastern University (FEU) Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management (ITHM) administered TamVows 2016, an all-expense paid civil wedding and reception to eight selected couples from the FEU Community last February 12 at the FEU Plaza.

According to Gabriel Santos, overall chair of the event, TamVows is an annual outreach program done by ITHM every February. He also said that the purpose of this event is to wed those who belong to the extensions of FEU Community who do not have the capacity to celebrate on their own. For this year’s TamVows, the newlyweds were from FEU JAMMAS and Gawad Kalinga.

The eight couples were: Mr. Mark Joseph Bollena and Ms. Jasmin Esponilla; Mr. John John Castillo and Ms. Gemmare Cruz; Ms. Ariel Alagos and Ms. Maricel Capistrano; Mr. Jericho Contreras and Ms. Mary Glor Dasigan; Mr. Dominador Tobias and Ms. Shiela Mae Bangalisan; Mr. John Ray Agtarap and Ms. Janeth Ariola; Mr. Rommel Ramirez and Ms. Shirley Goncena; and Mr. Jayppee Lucidos and Ms. Ginalyn Fernandez.

Rev. Ferdinand Escala officiated the mass wedding that started at 4:10 PM. It began with a prelude song followed by entourage march. However, Rev. Renato Espiritu from Manila City Hall processed and signed the marriage contract.

The principal sponsors were: Dr. Adalbert Alcaide; Dr. Maria Teresa Trinidad P. Tinio; Mr. Micheal Victoria; Atty. Gianna R. Montinola; Mr. Glenn Z. Nagal; Dr. Myna P. Quinto; Mr. Renato L. Serapio; Mrs. Rosanna e. Salcedo; Col. Lt. Buenavantura Plantado Jr.; Dr. Emerita V. Delaa Cruz; Dr. Joel M. Chavez; Dr. Sheila Marie G. Hocson; Mr. Martin Lopez; Dr. Melinda D. Torres; Mr. Antonio Narval; and Chef Drisella Pajuyo.

Reception followed the wedding and before dinner, ITHM Dean Dr. Melinda Torres, delivered a short message. In addition, Santos delivered his speech acknowledging and thanking the people behind the event. The couples were given a chance to express their gratitude as well.

The people behind the event were third year BS Tourism students, BS Hotel and Restaurant Management students, and ITHM Faculty. The celebration ended with the distribution of tokens to the newlyweds and followed by closing remarks delivered by Dean Torres.
