Far Eastern University (FEU) Lady Tamaraws dominated the sands with a two-set sweep against the Ateneo de Manila University (AdMU) Blue Eagles, 21-11, 21-8, to end their University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Season 85 women's beach volleyball campaign last November 27 at the Mall of Asia Beach Volleyball Sandcourt, Pasay City.

The Lady Tams managed to kill attacks and execute good floor defense to hold the Blue Eagles’ momentum and claim the first set.

During the second set, alternate player Stacey Lopez delivered offensively alongside beach volleybelle Melody Pons that helped the Morayta-based team to pull away and emerge victorious in the game.

In a post-game interview with FEU Advocate, the green-and-gold captain Gerzel Petallo mentioned that they will use the learnings of their games this season to their advantage as a rookie-laden team.

“First of all po, maganda yung kinalabasan ng game namin kasi from the start sobrang hard na ng training namin. Lumabas naman yung mga natutunan namin sa training so maganda pa din result. It’s a good start para samin as rookies (First of all, the outcome of our game was good because our training was very hard. What we learned came out, so the result is still good. It’s a good start for us as rookies),” she said.

Petallo added that although the Morayta sand volleybelles settled at fifth place in the rankings, they were happy with the resiliency that they showed in the whole tournament.

“Kahit naman po fifth place kami, we’ll do better next season and babawi po talaga kami. We know na mas may ibebetter pa na outcome so we’ll keep on going sa training (Even though we are in fifth place, we’ll do better next season and bounce back. We know that the outcome can be better, so we’ll keep on going on our trainings),” she stated.

FEU took a 3-4 win-loss record to cap off the collegiate tournament.
