Far Eastern University’s (FEU) One FEU Music & Records (OFMR) has filed a case to the Office of the Student Discipline (OSD), after their performance was cut short due to miscommunication at the recently held Tatak Tamaraw 2025 Welcome Fest Concert, detailed in a released statement today, September 1.
In the released bulletin, OFMR detailed that their preparation was counted as part of the performance time leading to their set being cut short at the second song. This has led the student-artists of the organization to an “embarrassing and traumatic situation witnessed by thousands,” at the FEU Grandstand last August 29.
The incident has prompted the organization to file a case to the OSD, in hopes to hold those responsible accountable. OFMR has also requested a meeting with the FEU Central Student Organization (FEUCSO) and Office of the Student Involvement (OSI).
“In line with our commitment to safeguarding the welfare of our homegrown Student-Artists, we have also formally requested a meeting with the FEUCSO Executive Board and Adviser, as well as the Director of the Office of Student Involvement,” the statement read.
Furthermore, the message from OFMR President Mariah Alysa Parole and Vice President Eleaz Militante also claimed that this was not the first time that the music group has been asked to cut performances during University events.
“Unfortunately, this was not the first time student-artists of a homegrown organization were asked to cut their performance but it was the first time they cut the microphones and instruments halting a performance,” it detailed.
FEUCSO’s response
Just minutes after OFMR’s statement, FEUCSO Secretary and Tatak Tamaraw 2025 Welcome Fest Concert proponent Ivy Grace Bisnar posted a response on her personal Facebook account detailing the organization’s side of what transpired.
FEUCSO emphasized that “no microphones or instruments were ever intentionally cut” and that they pushed through with the agreed runtime of OFMR.
“In our coordination meeting last August 16, their set was given 2 minutes for plug-in and 5 minutes for performance, with no objections raised. A request for additional time came in on August 18, but we were clear that we couldn’t grant it because of the overall program flow,” the secretary explained.
Additionally, in order to abide by the University’s 9:00 p.m. hard stop protocol, they needed to make adjustments, since ‘several uncontrollable factors’ such as medical emergencies and technical delays have compromised the celebration’s schedule.
“The events team cut down host spiels and even sponsor spiels, recalibrating as early as the set before OFMR. While they were on stage, our President and I were already at OSI negotiating for extra time, hoping to ease the pressure for all performers,” Bisnar explained.
As of writing, FEUCSO has confirmed to meet with OFMR together with their adviser and OSI.
OFRM is an accredited student-led music organization in FEU which showcases Tamaraw-developed talent during University-wide events such as Tatak Tamaraw and One Concierto Piyu.
