Far Eastern University (FEU) second-year students showed frustration with the second semester enrollment after the FEU Student Central website crashed yesterday, January 8.
Second-year Psychology student Abraham Deogracias shared his registration experience in an online interview with FEU Advocate.
“As a second-year student, I am already familiar with the FEU enrollment procedure, but this is by far the most unpleasant and inconvenient,” he said.
Multiple students also posted their concerns on the Facebook group One Piyu Community, detailing that they have been awake as early as 6:00 AM and waited more than five hours, only for the enrollment site to crash.
The FEU Student Central malfunction has caused the enrollment period to be extended.
Second year students can now enroll from January 8 to 10, third year students from January 11 to 12, and fourth year students from January 13 to 14.
Amid student qualms, FEU Central Student Organization President Joshua Maigue provided updates from the FEU Information Technology Services (ITS), the department responsible for handling FEU Student Central.
“According to ITS, the Student Central received overwhelming traffic since this morning that resulted in technical and website difficulties, particularly on the login screen and enrollment page,” the Facebook post said.
ITS fixed the login issue but the high traffic from students still caused them to experience seeing only black or white screens, be forcibly logged out from the site, get stuck at loading screens, or a have glitchy user interface.
Subsequently, ITS underwent maintenance and recommended students to come back after 30-minute to one hour intervals.
Students who registered but received ineligible enrollment are advised to submit a Tamaraw Easy Assist Hub ticket to ensure their schedule.
Deogracias shared that FEU should be more responsible in conducting an easy enrollment procedure.
“For a university like FEU that decided to cater to thousands of students, the least it could do is provide easy, convenient, and error-free services to its constituents,” he explained.
At 2:00 PM yesterday, FEU Enrollment announced that the system has been restored and students can register.
