Far Eastern University (FEU) Lady Booters started the season with a win against the University of Santo Tomas (UST) Lady Booters, 1-0, in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Season 86 women’s football tourney, March 2, at the University of the Philippines (UP) Diliman Football Field in Quezon City.

The Morayta-based squad gained momentum in the first half of the game after forward Ma. Angel Egay scored a goal in the 8th minute.

Fresh from national team duties, Lady Tamaraw team captain Dionesa Tolentin also had multiple attempts for a goal which were met by the potent defense of the Lady Booters.

The green-and-gold team captain described her and their team’s performance in a post-game interview with FEU Advocate.

“Disappointed ako sa performance ko, sa finishing. Sa teammates ko naman po nandun po ‘yung sipag, ‘yung hard work, kagustuhan manalo. ‘Yun lang po sad lang na alam namin na kaya pa namin umi-score pero hindi namin nagawa kailangan pa namin i-practice ‘yung mga lapses namin (I’m disappointed with my performance, in the finishing. For my teammates, there’s hard work, the hunger to win. What’s sad is we know that we can still score but we didn’t so we need to practice our lapses)” Tolentin said.

FEU head coach Let Dimzon expressed her thoughts on the team’s performance as they finished their first game.

“A bit disappointed because since [the] first half, we had a lot of chances in front pero dahil hindi namin nama-materialize ang chances for scoring,” Dimzon said.

FEU Lady Booters will next face the Ateneo de Manila University Lady Eagles next Saturday, March 9 at the same venue.
