Far Eastern University (FEU) Head Coach Tina Salak expressed her happiness with the performance of the Lady Tamaraws despite losing against the Adamson University (AdU) Lady Falcons, 21-25, 26-24, 14-25, 21-25, in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Season 85 women’s volleyball tourney held at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City earlier today, March 4.
“A lot of improvement sa team… I am very happy na ganito ‘yung pinakita ng ladies. So syempre, simula pa lang (A lot of improvement on the team… I am very happy with what the ladies showed. So of course, it’s just the start),” Salak said in a post-game interview with FEU Advocate.
During the second set, the Morayta-based volleybelles managed to deliver a 13-four run to bring the game against the Lady Falcons to one set apiece, 26-24.
FEU struggled to keep the momentum upon entering the third set to give away the victory to the San Marcelino squad, 14-25.
Green-and-gold spikers Jovelyn Fernandez and Julianne Monares both scored 12 markers, while Alyzza Devosora had another double-digit performance with 11 points from 11 attacks.
Salak also mentioned the different areas of improvement that the Lady Tamaraws have to focus on coming into their fourth matchup of the season against Ateneo de Manila University (AdMU).
“Against Ateneo, kailangan namin i-improve ‘yung attack, lessen the errors… Kailangan namin ma-lessen ‘yung magbigay ng puntos [sa kalaban] (Against Ateneo, we need to improve the attack, lessen the errors… We need to lessen giving points [to the opponents]),” she stated.
The Shiela Kiseo-captained team now sports a 1-2 win-loss record and will seek to clinch a win against the AdMU Lady Eagles on Wednesday, March 8 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.
