Far Eastern University (FEU) community celebrated the victory of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) season 78 men’s basketball division champions yesterday at the FEU Grandstand.

Students, faculty, staff, and alumni gathered in the FEU grounds as they welcomed the FEU Tamaraws. The Montinola family, shareholder of the University, was also present in the event.

FEU President Michael Alba gave his remarks. “Thank you to the students who lined to buy tickets on wee hours.” Alba said. He also expressed his gratitude to the staff, the faculty, and the alumni.

More people behind the Tamaraw’s success were recognized. These included the utility team who continued to work even after team ended training, and the trainers that honed the skills of the players.

Six players of the men's basketball team also bid their messages as they will be graduating this semester. These were Mac Belo, Russel Escoto, Achie Inigo, Roger Pogoy, Francis Tamsi, and Mike Tolomia.

'Parade of the Champions' was hosted by FEU courtside reporter Ganiel Krishnan and broadcast journalist and FEU alumnus Jorge Carino .

In an interview with the FEU Advocate, Carino shared the significance of this season’s championship. “Basketball is an event that unites a community, in the same manner championship will inspire each and every member ng (of) community,” he said.

FEU Courtside Reporter Krishnan felt the Tamaraw’s support. “Sobra ‘yung suporta nila (FEU Community) sa FEU team. Mahal na mahal nila ‘yung team (The FEU Community’s support for the FEU team is extreme. They really love the team),” she said.

In addition, Krishnan believed that the Tamaraw spirit is “losing with grace and winning with magnanimity.”
